The centre which was inaugurated by the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah, was constructed at the cost of GH¢ 470,000 with a China Exim Bank loan. The new facility brings to 21 the number of enhanced CICs.

The centre has a server room, a computer laboratory, an office for the general manager, a 50-capacity conference room, places of convenience and a kitchen.

It was a joint effort between the Ministry of Communications and Huawei Technologies Co. Limited, while the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) provided 20 computers connected to the Internet.

GIFEC

GIFEC, through the ministry, has already provided training to two officials of the Bodi District Assembly to take care of the facility.

Handing over the centre to the assembly at a ceremony at Bodi, Dr Omane-Boamah explained that the facility was an improvement on a number of information centres provided for some communities in various parts of the country, hence the description, “Enhanced.’’

He explained that students could use the facility to check their examination results, fill university and other tertiary admission forms, do photocopies and print out documents as well as hold group conferences.

2016 elections

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Ato Ahwoi, who is a citizen of the area, urged the people to vote massively for the party come the 2016 general election so they would continue to enjoy more development projects.

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr Sampson Ahi, said the government had supplied 50,000 bags of fertiliser to the Bodi District.

Already, 30,000 bags have been distributed to some farmers, while the remaining 20,000 will be distributed later.

He called for unity and peaceful co-existence among the people since it was only through harmony and tranquillity that there would be effective development in the area.
