Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the two charges.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Akuetteh, said Sophia Ampim is a trader at Korletsom, while Ibrahim, 37, is a resident of Aboabo, near Kumasi.

He said on January 28, 2014 at about 11 a.m., Sophia, who sells plantain chips, left her house to the Odumase Akro Secondary Technical School to sell.

Chief Inspector Akuetteh said at the time Sophia was leaving the house, there was nobody around.

Around 12:30 p.m., Ibrahim, who was on his normal rounds in search of scraps to buy, took advantage of the absence of the occupants of the house, entered Sophia’s uncompleted kitchen and stole her big frying pan worth GH¢60.

According to the prosecutor, Ibrahim was spotted by some young men who confronted him and demanded to know how  he came by the frying pan.

Chief Inspector Akuetteh added that he started fumbling but upon persistent interrogation, he admitted stealing the item.

The young men then sent him to the police station where he was detained and charged with the offences.

When Sophia came home later in the day and heard about the incident, she went to the police station and identified the item as hers.

The court ordered the police to return the frying pan to Sophia.
