The Vice Chairman in charge of welfare of the Kasoa-Obom Road Chapter of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr Eliasu Rahamani, has expressed worry over the deplorable nature of the Kasoa to Obom road.
He said the road had too many potholes in it, and that made it very difficult for vehicles to ply it.
According to him, many vehicles break down on the road.
Mr Rahamani added that the state of the road discouraged many commercial drivers from using the route and passengers found it difficult getting vehicles to their destinations.
Appeal
In an interview with the Daily Graphic last Thursday, Mr Rahamani urged the Awutu Senya District Assembly to consider putting the road in good shape as soon as possible.
He said passengers were compelled to walk long distances from the taxi rank and tro-tro station to their destinations after close of work.
He said following an earlier complaint he made to the assembly months ago, four tipper trucks filled with stones were dispatched to the area.
He said the stones were used to fill the badly affected parts of the road but unfortunately the result was not encouraging. He stated that since then, there had not been any major rehabilitation works carried out on the Obom road.
Mr Kwame Kusi, a taxi driver who plies the road, also urged the authorities to come to their aid. He said the bad nature of the road had damaged his two vehicles.
