Major General (Rtd.) William Ayamdo is the new Deputy National Security Coordinator, with Yaw Donkor moving to Intelligence in a reorganisation at the National Security Secretariat by President John Dramani Mahama.
Yaw Donkor, who previously served as the National Security Coordinator, has been reassigned to serve as the Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alhassan Osman who was the Director of Investigations at the National Security Secretariat has been reassigned to Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday evening [August 11, 2026], by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.
Major (Rtd.) General Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, brings extensive military experience to his new role, which is expected to bolster the operational capabilities of the Secretariat.
Other appointments announced include Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport, Faustina Effah-Boadi as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, and DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri as Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
The reorganisation forms part of efforts to streamline operations, ensure efficiency, and strengthen the nation’s security infrastructure in line with emerging challenges, the statement said.
The National Security Council Secretariat serves as the coordinating body for security agencies and advises the President on matters of national security.
