Remedial work begins on the Apedwa Junction-Nsawam road
Two teams from the Mobile Maintenance Unit (MMU) of the Ministry of Roads and Highways have begun remedial work on the immotorable sections of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The maintenance work is intended to bring some minimal comfort to motorists using the Apedwa Junction-Nsawam stretch of the road which has deteriorated.
There has been public outcry over the poor nature of the road that connects Accra to the northern part of the country and beyond.
The MMU is, however, capping the seven-kilometre stretch from the Apedwa Junction to Nsawam in an effort to improve the riding surface of the road, while awaiting the Chinese construction firm, Messrs China International Water and Electric Corporation, to resume work on the project.
The Head of the unit, Mr Philip Samini, told Alhaji Collins Dauda, the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, who currently oversees the Ministry of Roads and Highways, that personnel of the MMU would be working day and night, hence the two teams.
Alhaji Dauda, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah, and the Chief Director of the ministry, Dr Daniel Darku, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highway Authority, Mr Micheal Abbey, inspected work on the stretch yesterday.
The situation of motorists having to meander their way through the potholes would reduce significantly when the work was completed in a month’s time, Mr Samini stated.
Alhaji Dauda said the government was working to raise funds for the completion of the project, noting, however, that “while we wait, we thought it prudent to at least improve the condition of the road”.
