The Global Compliance Officer of QNET, a lifestyle and wellness company, Theodocia Naana B. Quartey, has urged religious leaders to join the crusade to fight against the misuse of its brand by scammers and individuals not authorised by the company.
She said messages that come from religious leaders through the pulpit carried more weight and were believed and accepted by the congregation, adding that the company wanted men of God to support efforts to protect people against scams.
"So, we want pastors and other religious leaders to be the mouthpiece to speak to the people, thereby protecting them from falling prey to scammers who dupe them through the misuse of the QNET brand," she stated.
Seminar
She made the remarks while addressing the 2026 All Ministers Seminar of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
She said a lot of people still did not have enough information about the operations of QNET and how they could escape from scams, noting that people needed to know that there were individuals misusing the company's brand to scam unsuspecting persons and misrepresenting the company.
"We are doing a lot with the Economic and Organised Crime Office to clamp down on the perpetrators. Recently, we had a workshop for representatives from 13 Central and West African countries," she stated.
She mentioned that the company would not relent in its efforts to protect Ghanaians from scammers and added that they would keep pushing to get the information out there to safeguard the people.
Move to commercial areas
Touching on the Ashanti Region as one of the hotspots for scams involving QNET, she said they had directed offices registered to do business with QNET to move to commercial areas, stressing that if offices were situated in residential areas, it contributed to the problem at hand.
"We are encouraging them to move to commercial areas so that they do their business openly in the full glare of the public," she added.
Speaking on the topic "The Church and the Law," Mrs Quartey underscored the need for the church to be abreast of Ghana's laws in addition to its core spiritual activities.
"As the church enjoys freedom of association and worship as enshrined in the constitution, it must respect the rights of others in its operations," she added.
Eye-opener
The Chairman of the GPCC, Ashanti Region, Apostle Dr Bright Sosu, said the seminar was an eye-opener, as it exposed them to many things within the law that were often overlooked.
He advised the religious leaders to always verify information given to them for onward dissemination to their members, saying: "Such a move will prevent you from giving information to our congregation which leads them into the hands of scammers."
