Ransford Antwi honoured as Young Professional Role Model
The Chief Executive Officer of Sunyani-based Suncity Radio, Ransford Antwi has been celebrated as the Young Professional Role Model for 2019 (Male category) by the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC).
He was presented with the honorary award during the YPYC’s Young Professional Transformational Leadership Conference in Sunyani as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary celebrations of the group.

Ransford was handed a plaque and an accompanying citation extolling his exploits as an outstanding personality who has excelled as a role model entrepreneur, impacting society positively.
From a very modest background, Mr. Antwi has become a well-respected entrepreneur whose exploits go beyond the Bono Region where he hails from. He has been the manager of one of Ghana’s finest musicians, Kojo Antwi for almost a decade, and is noted to have played key roles in securing the Black Stars' first and only kit sponsorship, among others.
Others honoured on the occasion were;
- Mrs Vida Korang, Lecturer at the Catholic University, Young Professional Role Model (Female Category) for Bono Region.
- Lead and Enter Foundation, led by Alexander Owusu Boateng, Young Professional Role Model (Organisation Category).
- Mr Robert Mensah, GM, Eusbett Hotel as Young Professional Role Model- Promising Star (Male Personality)
- Mrs Harriet Osei Amoah Owusu, Head, Priority Banking, Standard Chartered Bank as Young Professional Role Model- Promising Star (Female Personality).
The conference, held for the first time in the Bono Region, was under the theme; 'Strategic Positioning of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs in the 21st Century for Ghana's Transformation'.
It aimed at building the capacity of the participants and equipping them with ethical leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
The annual leadership excellence awards was instituted by the YPYC in 2009, led by Andy Osei Okrah, former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, to recognize and honour exemplary leaders who serve as role-models to other young professionals in Ghana and Africa.
Andy Okrah in an address said the future of Africa hinges on the quality of its youth, and consequently stressed the need for the continent to focus on building transformational and visionary leaders. He also called for the promotion of intra-African trade, integration and cohesion among regional blocks.
The Vice Chancellor of the Sunyani Technical University, Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Adinkra Appiah advised Ghanaian youths to regard Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a path to a successful future.
According to him, the youth should avoid “get rich quick” schemes and rather orient themselves towards entrepreneurship which he believes will enhance rapid and meaningful development of Ghana.
A former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare highlighted the need for the youth to pursue critical thinking and skills development in order to stay relevant.
Other Speakers at the Conference included The Pro Vice Chancellor of UENR, Prof. Emmanuel Frimpong and the Senior Innovation Manager for MTN Ghana, David Narh, who both encouraged the youth to be proactive, innovative and focus on creating their own jobs.
