Rainstorm leaves four dead in Walewale
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Walewale District Hospital where some of the injured persons, including pregnant women and children, have since been treated and discharged.
Several homes, including school buildings and offices, were also destroyed in the process.
There was also disruption of electricity supply, thereby throwing the entire area into darkness, as people scampered to retrieve what remained of their property.
According to the District Chief Executive for the area, Mr Adams Yussif, who visited some of the victims at the hospital yesterday, officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) were currently assessing the situation.
He, however, appealed to individuals and philanthropic organisations to come to their aid to help assuage the suffering of the people who were yet to receive support.
The Walewale storm comes in the wake of similar ones that hit Gushiegu, Yendi, Savelugu, Tolon and Tamale where two persons lost their lives within the last three weeks.
