Ekow Micah

Prosecutors ordered to determine quantity of wee in Ekow Micah’s possession

The Accra Circuit Court yesterday asked police investigators handling Ekow Micah’s case to ascertain the quantity of suspected Indian hemp found when his house was searched.

The Judge, Mr Aboagye Tandoh, said he wanted to know the quantity of the substance since that would inform the court’s decision.

Mr Tandoh gave the directive after the investigator in charge of the case, Corporal Richmond Ayayi, failed to state the exact quantity of the alleged narcotic drugs found on the accused person.

He subsequently adjourned the trial to September 10, 2015.

Witness
At yesterday’s sitting, Corporal Richmond Ayayi, who is the second prosecution witness, told the court that he got to know the accused person on July 4 2015, when he was invited by the Crime Officer of the Airport Police Station, Mr Felix Ayidaho, to assist in the investigation of an alleged extortion that was reported at the station.

Led by Assistant Comissioner Police (ACP), Mr Moses Atimbilla, to give his evidence-in-chief, the investigator told the court that he met occupants in Micah’s house during a visit to his house in the course of investigations.

He said, Micah’s neighbours told investigators they did not know him (Micah).

A sealed brown envelope containing the suspected drugs found on Micah, which also had his signature on it, was shown to the court.

It would be tendered in evidence as an exhibit after the police ascertain its exact weight.
