Non-custodial sentencing
He explained that Mr Woyongo, after assuming office as Interior Minister, initiated the non-custodial sentencing and Project Efiase.
“The Prisons Council highly appreciates the frequent visits the minister has been paying to the various prisons in the country,” Rev. Wengham added.
Mr Woyongo thanked the Prisons Service for the award and said the right of prisoners must be respected.
He further stated that the prisons should not serve only as a place for punishment but also for rehabilitation and correction.
