Assin Juaben, a small farming community of about 400 people in the Assin South District of the Central Region, has attracted the attention of President John Dramani Mahama.
In the last three years, the President has spent his birthday with the people of the community.
Last Sunday, President Mahama took another step at deepening his relations with the people when he announced that he was going to put up a "modest house" at his "second home".
The chief of the town has already released a land to the President for the project.
President Mahama, who could not celebrate his 56th birthday at Assin Juaben this year due to his official engagement outside the country, decided to observe it belatedly last Sunday.
It was all joy as virtually the entire population of the community and others from surrounding communities poured out to join him on that occasion.
President appreciative
In a brief address to the gathering, President Mahama mentioned how appreciative he was of the special love extended to him by the chiefs and people of the area.
He said a kindergarten was to be constructed in the town, expressing the hope that the project would be ready for inaguration by December next year.
He also said the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) would support the construction of a classroom for the local school.
The President commended the people for maintaining a clean environment, which he said was a good example for others to emulate.
Chief
The acting President of the Assin Atandasu Traditional Area, Nana Kwantwi Barima II, praised the President for choosing Assin Juaben as his second home.
He said the President was a man of the people, assuring him of the support of his people to deliver on his promises.
