The Jambusie Water Project, sited in the Wa West District, is expected to supply 3.3 million gallons of water per day to more than 100,000 residents of Wa and its immediate environs.

It was constructed with a facility procured from the Korean Exim Bank and its construction spanned more than four years.

President Akufo-Addo, who inaugurated the facility last Monday during his two-day tour of the region, expressed satisfaction that the project had eventually been completed.

Gratitude

The President expressed gratitude to the Korean government for its support towards the realisation of the project and tasked the people to take good care of the project to ensure that it lasted long to serve current and future generations.

Visit

It was the President’s first official visit to the Upper West Region since assuming office. Before then, he had visited Wa on his ‘Thank You Tour’ after winning the presidential election in December 2016.

As expected, New Patriotic Party (NPP) enthusiasts came out in their numbers to welcome President Akufo-Addo to the region.

Commitments

The President assured the people that the government would strive to honour its commitments to the people of Ghana during his four-year mandate.

“We are determined to realise all the commitments that we made to the people of Ghana. This is because we want the people to understand that not all politicians are liars; that not all politicians make promises only to get votes,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo mentioned the realisation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as an example of a fulfilled campaign promise.

“They told me I could not do the free SHS and that it was an election gimmick. Well, the gimmick is out today,” he stated.
