President gives assurance of equitable distribution of resources
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given an assurance that the government will not discriminate against any region in the distribution of state resources.

He said the 1992 Constitution was very categorical about the equitable distribution of state resources, saying achieving that was top on the agenda of the government.
The President gave the assurance when members of the Standing Committee of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House yesterday.
President Akufo-Addo said although the government did not inherit much from the previous administration, it was pursuing prudent policies to improve the finances of the state.
He said he was determined to make the Upper East Region a major target of his administration and pledged that all the major issues bothering the region would be addressed promptly.

While commending the President for receiving them, the members of the Standing Committee called on the government to ensure the completion of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
The group also proposed to the government to acquire certain lands in the region compulsorily and also suggested to it to develop an irrigation system that would support all-year-round farming in the region.
They said a number of major roads in the region had remained in deplorable states and appealed to the government to take the necessary action to repair them.
Road Fund
Commenting on the appeal by the delegation, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwasi Amoako-Atta, said the Ghana Road Fund was under distress due to a loan contracted by the previous administration from the UBA Bank.
He said GH¢68 million out of the GH¢80 million accrued by the fund monthly was being used to service the loan from the bank.
In spite of the challenges, he gave an assurance that the government would make every effort to repair some of the roads mentioned by the delegation.
The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, confirmed that plans to begin the second phase of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital were far advanced.
He said a facility of USD$20 million was being secured by the government to complete the project.
