President directs expired boards to remain in caretaker positions

President John Dramani Mahama has directed all boards whose tenure of office has expired to be in caretaker positions until substantive boards are established.

According to a statement signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Raymond Atuguba, the move was  to ensure orderly conduct of government business. 

Per the Transition Act, the Boards shall not take decisions involving a policy issue, sign any major agreement or engage in any significant financial transaction without clearance from the Office of the President.

His Excellency the President, has directed that for the orderly conduct of Government business, all statutory Boards whose tenure of office has expired should be in care-taker positions until substantive boards are established.

In the spirit of the Transition Act, the Boards shall not take decisions involving a policy issue, sign any major agreement or engage in any significant financial transaction without clearance from the Office of the President.
