Pray daily to ensure peaceful elections - Afenyi-Dadzie

The National Prayer Director of Aglow International, Mrs Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, has asked Ghanaians to pray daily for the nation as it prepares for the general election in December this year.

She particularly asked the people to pray regularly for the Electoral Commission (EC) and its Chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei, the various political parties, the security agencies and the government.

Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie was addressing enthusiastic members and the general public who converged on the Black Star Square for the August edition of the monthly intercessory prayers for the country last Saturday.

The three-hour programme was organised by Aglow International on the theme: “I myself will be a protective wall of fire around Ghana says the Lord.” (Zechariah 2:5)

Clad mostly in white attire, the women used “vuvuzelas”, whistles, white handkerchiefs and miniature Ghana flags to praise God for His continuous blessings and mercies on the country.

Peace

Every month, members of Aglow International gather to offer prayers for the peaceful development of the nation.

They also pray against unfavourable weather conditions to avert national disasters.

Similar prayer sessions were held at the Jubilee parks in Wa, Bolga, Tamale, Kumasi, Sunyani, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua Jackson Park and the Ho RTC Park.

Prayers

Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie said one of the effective ways to avert any evil attack on Ghana was for the citizens to pray ceaselessly for the country.

She explained that prayer was the only weapon Christians and Muslims could use to deal with any demonic attacks that were aimed at destroying the nation.

Using the biblical history of believers to back her statement, Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie said every great man who had his story documented in the Bible used prayer as a weapon.

Touching on the need to praise God daily, she said Ghana had enjoyed divine protection, love, peace, forgiveness and healing among many other blessings from God.

Appreciation

She, therefore, said Ghanaians had every cause to appreciate and thank God for His faithfulness and kindness towards the nation despite the prevailing challenges it was facing.

“God has preserved the peace, unity and stability of the nation. He has been good to Ghana. Therefore, we have every cause to appreciate Him,” Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie said.

According to her, Aglow International is among other ministries that continue to pray to sustain the peace and stability in the country.

She, therefore, urged the people to continue to pray because “God has better things ahead for Ghana”.
