Police yet to arrest minister after court order

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) is yet to take action on the orders of a Ho High Court for the arrest of the Minister of Works and Housing, Water Resources, Dr Kwaku Agyemang Mensah to appear before the court on Friday, April 15.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Patrick Baayeh issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the minister about a fortnight ago for failing to appear before it on five occasions.

But According to the registrar of the High Court in Ho, Mr John Tefe, notice was delivered to the IGP on an Expedited Mail Service (EMS) but there had been no response as at now although the case comes up on Friday.

Dr Kwaku Agyemang Mensah was alleged to have refused to appear before the court to answer a contempt charge filed against him in connection with the destruction caused in the execution of the Ada Sea Defence Project.

Failure to appear

The court held that the minister had failed to appear before it to answer the charge of contempt leveled against him and accordingly instructed the IGP to apprehend and produce him in court on April 15, 2016.

He is to appear before the court with his director, Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu and director of hydrological services, Mr Owusu Ansah.
