Police warn motorists to verify TraffiTech-GH tickets before payment

The Ghana Police Service has cautioned motorists against paying traffic fines under the TraffiTech-GH automated traffic enforcement system without first verifying the authenticity and details of their tickets.

The Police said motorists must check their Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) to confirm that the alleged offences are genuine before making payments.

In a press release dated November 4, 2026, the Service advised motorists to check whether violation notifications came from the official sender identification, GPS-MTTD, explaining that genuine notifications would not be sent from ordinary mobile phone numbers.

It also urged motorists to verify the vehicle photograph and registration number, as well as the location, date and time of the alleged offence. Where video evidence is available, recipients are advised to watch the footage before making payment.

The Police said the checks would help motorists establish whether the alleged violations were genuine and avoid falling victim to fraudulent payment demands.

Under the approved payment arrangements, motorists are required to pay verified fines through the National Investment Bank (NIB) Payment Portal at https://traffitech-ghpay.nib.com.gh.

To make payment, motorists must select the 'Make Payment' option, enter their ticket numbers, check the details displayed and follow the instructions.

They can also pay through the USSD option by dialling 7100# and following the prompts to complete the transaction using their ticket numbers.

The Police warned motorists against paying traffic fines into personal Mobile Money accounts or through unofficial payment platforms, saying such transactions could expose them to fraud.

Members of the public who require assistance or further information about the system have been advised to contact the Police on 059 692 2402.

The TraffiTech-GH project, which is being implemented by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), took effect on November 1, 2026.

The system is intended to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations in the country.

The Police Service has appealed to motorists, vehicle owners and transport operators to cooperate with the initiative and comply with road traffic regulations.
