Police probes shooting of scrap dealer

 

The Western Regional Police Command is investigating circumstances leading to the shooting of a scrap dealer at Takoradi in the Western Region.

 The victim, identified as Paul Arma, a Nigerian, was shot in the stomach by his assailants and is on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he is said to be responding to treatment.

 One suspect, Owarie King, mentioned by the victim has been arrested to help in the investigations.

Another suspect named Chidi and said to be the mastermind of the attack is being sought by the police.

According to the police, the victim went to Accra with one of his workers identified as Chidi, also a Nigerian national to sell scrap.

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Adiku said the dealer realized a total of GH₵80,000.00 after the day’s business activities in Accra and later returned to Takoradi.

The victim told Chidi to retire for the day since they were tired, while he the victim returned to check security at the workplace.

Unfortunately, the victim was later attacked at the shop. He managed to escape and decided not to go home for fear of the assailants repeating the attack.

ASP Adiku said in the morning, the victim decided to go home but on his way home he was shot in the left side of his stomach.

Neighbours who heard the gunshots called the police, while the victim was rushed to the hospital.
