This was one of four actions ordered by the council which has Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur as chairman.

The Council met on Monday to consider the report on the investigations on the recruitment scam which was submitted last week.

A statement signed by Superintendent Cephas Arthur of the Police Public Affairs Unit said at the end of the council’s meeting Monday, it endorsed the report submitted by the Special Investigation Taskforce and  directed that all the Police Officers investigated in the fraud case should remain on interdiction.

“That internal disciplinary action should be initiated into the conduct of the officers, and that this is without prejudice to any criminal prosecutions that may be directed by the Attorney-General’s Office against them.”

Again, it directed that “the case docket should be processed and same forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for legal directives as a matter of urgency.”

“That the Police Administration should take measures to sensitize and continue to educate the public on police recruitment processes so to as avoid reoccurrence of this incident.”

The police administration therefore urged the general public and stakeholders to continue to give their support in this regard.

COP Timbillah was one of three officers said to have been indicted in the recruitment scam.

The officers were believed to have taken whopping sums of money from unsuspecting citizens with the promise of giving them an opportunity to be recruited into the police service.

Over 200 of such victims thronged the various police training institutions across the country with forged documents said to have been signed by COP Timbillah.

They were left shocked when it became apparent they had been defrauded.

A special task force was constituted to investigate the scam and presented its report last week.
