Police arrest suspected drug dealer in Paga, seizes 38 parcels of Indian hemp

The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspected drug dealer, Tumbana Ane, at Paga in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region and seized 38 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

A police statement released on Monday, October 5, 2026, said a search conducted at the residence of Ane led to the discovery of the 38 parcels of the substances and other prohibited drugs - Tramadol.

The police said a tunnel was discovered at the residence, which it suspected was being used by Ane to conceal the drugs and evade arrest.

The police said preliminary investigations had also established that Ane allegedly operated brothels at an illegal mining site at Wuru, a suburb of Kayoro community in the Kassena-Nankana West District.

The Command said investigations were ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspect's activities and any other offences that might be associated with him.
