Philanthropist supports two organisation

“The GBU appreciates donations but we need more support to operate, as we assist children and members in all 10 regions of the country,”  he stated.

The Executive Director of HAG, Mr Ebenezer Adjetey-Sorsey, appealed to the government for assistance, as HAG could not cater for the increasing number of the aged on its own.

He noted that even though HAG did its best in providing and subsidising things for the aged, not all of them could even afford lunch and desert for 50Gp a day.

He said in order to improve conditions for the aged in Ghana, HELPAGE would need specialist doctors and assistance in the form of food, clothing and money.

Mr Adjetey-Sorsey advised  people who had abandoned their parents or elderly relations for various reasons to  consider taking care of them as old age was a very fragile stage in one’s life when love and support were needed.

Established in 1988 as a non-governmental organisation to promote the prospects of older persons in society, HELPAGE seeks to create public awareness of aging issues to initiate and assist organisations working with and for older persons in Ghana to advocate the development and implementation of national policies towards enhancing the welfare of older persons.
