The items donated included two maxi bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, one bag of sugar, a half bag of beans, a half bag of gari, two gallons of cooking oil, two cartons of tinned fish and two cartons of tinned tomatoes.

The rest are 700 pieces of toilet rolls, one bag of salt, four crates of canned drinks, loaves of bread, pepper, fish, garden eggs, okro, spices and onions.

They also donated GH¢200.00 to Mr Nelson Atiko, the caretaker, for the upkeep of the cured lepers.

Presentation

Mrs Ella Attih, wife of the Synod Clerk of the church, who made the presentation on behalf of the pastors’ spouses, said they were touched by the day-to-day drudgeries that the cured lepers went through and, therefore, decided to come to their aid.

She appealed to families who had abandoned their cured members at the home to go for them, as they needed their love and attention.

Mrs Attih pledged their commitment to the cured lepers, adding that “next time we will not come alone but you will see us with our spouses who are the pastors.”

In an exhortation on the theme: “Seek Refuge in Christ”, Mrs Enyonam Ganyo-Tefe, Second Vice President of the Global Evangelical Church Pastors’ and Spouses Association, encouraged the cured lepers not to give up on themselves as Jesus still loved them.

Assurance

She said life in this world without Jesus Christ was full of pains, problems, disease, frustrations and sometimes even death. “It is only in Jesus that one can enjoy the much-needed rest,” she assured.

Mrs Ganyo-Tefe led the cured lepers present through the sinners’ prayer to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour.

The over 100 spouses present at the donation sang, danced and prayed with the cured lepers.

Mr Atiko on behalf of the cured lepers thanked the pastors’ spouses for the tremendous show of love.

He recalled that the women’s ministry of the church, in collaboration with Mrs Matilda Amissah Arthur, wife of the Vice-President of Ghana, also donated assorted items, including clothes and walking aids, to the home last year.
