Justice Osei Kofi, the founder of ‘Mogya Kokoo’ Church at Abofu, near Achimota, in Accra, is alleged to have absconded, while two of his accomplices were arrested after the robbery operation on the Spintex Road in November 2011.

The two other persons, including a Lebanese and an employee of the company, Avo Kevorkion, and Nana Ama Agyeiwaa, a self-styled fitness instructor, are currently serving a 15-year jail term.

Kofi who absconded with the robbery booty of GH85,000, $320.000 and 110,000 Euros was arrested from his hideout at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region following a tip off.

The robbery

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said at about 11am, on November 4, 2011, the suspect and the two accomplices armed with a pistol and knife attacked the Managing Director of Cemix Company Limited, in his office, and robbed him of the amount.

He said investigations established that Kevorkion, who masterminded the robbery introduced his accomplices as prospective buyers to the Managing Director of the company,  Mr Jean Francis Mourad.

However, shortly after the two persons entered the office of Mr Mourad they tied him up at gun point and ransacked his office.

According to Mr Yohuno, Mr Mourad, managed to raise an alarm immediately the suspected robbers left his office.

The shout for help, attracted the attention of some good Samaritans who pursued the suspects when they jumped into a waiting taxi.

“While Agyeiwaa was arrested, Kofi escaped with the booty and went into hiding”.
