PAC Chair commends NPA CEO for strong performance at committee hearing

The Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei Asare, has praised the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., for his strong grasp of the Authority’s operations and his handling of issues raised during a recent Committee hearing.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, during a working visit by PAC members to the NPA’s head office, Abena Osei Asare commended Mr Tameklo’s ability to respond to questions, particularly those relating to the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) audit and a ratification matter on licensing.

“We are here to see for ourselves, first-hand, what exactly goes into the activities of the NPA. But I must say I was really impressed with how you carried yourself at the PAC hearing. You have knowledge of every activity under the NPA, and I think you should keep it up,” she said.

“On every aspect he was questioned on, he was able to answer. I was also impressed with the audit on the UPPF. Another thing that impressed me was how he took the ratification matter seriously. When I look at the timeframe within which the matter was put to rest, I was impressed, and I think that is what should be done,” she added.

Mr Tameklo appeared before the PAC on October 15, 2026, to respond to questions arising from a special audit of the Authority’s operations between 2023 and 2025.

The working visit was intended to give the Committee members a practical understanding of the Authority’s regulatory work and its response to issues raised during the hearing.

Mr Tameklo said the visit would enable members of the Committee to examine the NPA’s work on UPPF, Automatic Tank Gauging system, Electronic Cargo Tracking System and quality assurance, an area of particular public interest.

The Chief Executive also acknowledged the support of the Authority’s Board, chaired by Alhaji Huudu Yahaya Iddrisu, and the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, in providing strategic direction.

“I am fortunate to have the respected Alhaji Huudu Yahaya Iddrisu as my Board Chair. Together with the Board members, they have provided direction as we have positioned the Authority over this period,” he said.

He also praised the Minister’s leadership, describing the relationship as “fantastic”.

Discussions during the visit covered quality assurance, regulatory compliance, consumer protection and issues relating to the UPPF.

PAC members also toured key NPA facilities, including the laboratory and the Command Centre, where they received briefings on the work of the Authority’s technical departments and the systems underpinning its regulatory oversight.
