NGO supports La Homowo festival

The La Akwashongtse, Nii Yemo Din II (right) thanking  Mrs Naomi Vogel Yemotsoo with a handshake.With them are some elders of La.The Robert Vogel Memorial Foundation, an NGO, has presented  drinks and an undisclosed sum of money to the the various  clan houses at La to  celebrate their Homowo festival.

Mrs Naomi Vogel Yemotsoo, who founded  the Robert Vogel Memorial Foundation,in memory of her late husband, a native of La, said the foundation’s objective was to support the  deprived indigenes of La to further their education.

She said they were currently financing 11 students from the various La clans. Nine of them, she said,  were in boarding senior high schools, and one of the remaining two in the university and with the other a vocational school.

She commended the chiefs and elders of La for maintaining peace among all the clans at La and added her voice to the call for peace ahead of the Supreme Court verdict.

The La Akwashongtse, Nii Yemo Din II, who received the items on behalf the various clans, thanked the foundation for the gesture and expressed the hope that they would continue to support them.
