The Network of Intercessors for Ghana (NIG) has set Friday, March 27, 2019 to hold a 24-hour prayer chain on behalf of the nation in the wake of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The aim is to consolidate the fasting and prayers that were rendered across the country on Wednesday, March 25, 2019.

The prayer session will start from 6pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday, March 28.

According to the National Coordinator of the NIG, Pastor Dr James Obeng, the 24-hour prayer chain will connect Ghana to God’s calendar of keeping watching over the nation.

“These watches of prayer will open many doors of blessing to the nation. It will enable us to either open or close spiritual gates to ensure the fulfilment of the will of God for the nation,” he added.

“Whenever God is about to do a might new thing, He always sets His people praying,” he said.

Pastor Dr Obeng said other intercessory groups taking part in the exercise are Pray Ghana and Intercessors of Ghana.

As of Thursday, March 26, Ghana had recorded 132 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Out of the 132, 54 cases including three deaths have been confirmed from the regular surveillance systems.

The remaining 78 confirmed cases are among travellers under mandatory quarantine.

According to the Ghana Health Service, all three cases that "unfortunately succumbed to the disease were aged and had underlying chronic medical situations."
