National Service releases PIN codes for newly trained teachers

The Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) has released Personal Identification Number (PIN) codes for the enrolment of newly trained teachers from accredited Colleges of Education in the country.

A total of 15,401 PIN codes have been released for the newly trained teachers who will start their National Service in the 2019/2020 service year.

A press release signed by the Executive Director of GNSS, Mr Mustapha Ussif, asked all prospective national service personnel to visit the scheme's website (www.nss.gov) to have access to their respective PIN codes.

"All prospective national service personnel are hereby requested to visit the Scheme's website www.nss.gov.gh to access their PIN Codes with their respective Index Numbers and Date Birth and proceed to any branch of ADB Bank Ltd. throughout the country to make payment of an amount of GHC
40.00 or GHC 41.00 using MTN Mobile Money to activate the enrolment process", the statement said.

Ghanaian students who graduate from accredited tertiary institutions are required by law to do a one-year national service.

Previously, newly trained teachers were not involved in this scheme as those who completed the Colleges of Education were recruited and posted by the Ghana Education Service without doing the mandatory National Service.

However, in 2018, the Ghana National Service Secretariat issued a directive for newly trained teachers to register for and perform national service.
