Nana Akufo-Addo: It's time to do something about the floods

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described Wednesday's tragic flooding in Accra as a "major tragedy" and a "very big, big bad day" for Ghana.

Over 100 people died from a fire outbreak at a Goil filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, while various communities are reporting deaths resulting from the floods that trailed hours of rainfall. It may take a while to account for the number of deaths.

Nana Addo, who toured the fire scene and other flooded areas in the company of other NPP officials, said the "time has come for us to do something about the floods" that continue to hit the country year after year, expressing condolences to all who lost dear ones.

Also calling the floods a "dark moment in the history of our city," he rallied all to stand together with the bereaved in this difficult times and deal later on with lost property.
