MP puts up building for Achiase District Police

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Achiase in the Eastern Region, Mr Robert Kwasi Amoah, has constructed a one-storey building to serve as the headquarters of the Achiase District Police.

The building, which cost GH¢375,000, will be fixed with electricity meters by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) after which it will be inaugurated and made ready for use.

Ease congestion

The new building will help ease the congestion the police in Achiase experienced on its old premises.

When Mr Amoah conducted the Daily Graphic round the facility last Saturday, he said he financed the project with part of his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund.

New meter

He appealed to the ECG to endeavour to have meters fixed on the property soon so that the police could occupy it and begin work in earnest.

Mr Amoah said he had also purchased a pick-up vehicle for the Achiase District Directorate of Health to enhance staff mobility.

Besides, the MP said, he had re-roofed the out-patients department (OPD) of the Achiase Health Centre.

Scholarships

He added that he had awarded scholarships to 10 students to pursue further education in tertiary institutions and had also provided a number of basic schools with classroom infrastructure.

Furthermore, Mr Amoah said he had personally nursed and distributed 60,000 oil palm seedlings free of charge to farmers in the area and purchased 30 spraying machines for farmer groups in the district free of charge.

Financial empowerment

He said he had empowered 120 men and women in the Achiase Constituency financially by giving them interest free loans to venture into businesses of their choice.

The MP entreated the people in the constituency to retain him in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary election for him to continue to provide the people in the various communities in the district with their social needs.
