In a radio interview on Accra based Joy FM Friday evening, Mr Iddrisu said  Justice Akuffo had all the credentials it takes to be chosen as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.

“If you have perused her judgements in many decision at the Supreme Court, character, morality she satisfies it, she is taking over from Justice Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, undoubtedly one of the few Ghanaian women who needs to be celebrated for dedicated public service… she comes to the bar with some rich experience.”

The Minority Leader therefore Justice Akuffo to be fair to all manner of persons as the constitution requires, build teamwork, provide leadership and work on compensation for the judicial staff, who he said had not been treated well in past years.

Mr Iddrisu however raised issues with how President Akufo-Addo referred Justice Akoffu as a junior member of his chamber.

That, he noted raises an intriguing issue, which he said, could lead to Ghanaians talking about conflict of interest issues.

He added that Parliament would scrutinize that aspect of the issue and give a recommendation.

Mr Iddrisu, however, pointed out that with Ms Akuffo’s track record, he believed she would stand tall by not mar herself with partisan politics issues when given the nod as the Chief Justice.

“We do know who she is, there are concerns about her family ties and other this at the president chamber, could it be by coincidence that he has packed  loyalties, we do not accept it to happen to the independent organ of government”
