He said it would serve as a good example for society by paving the way for others to emulate and contributing to the  socio-economic development of the country.

Nana Ampong was speaking at an awards ceremony organised by  MJA in Kumasi for two individuals and five institutions — one health facility and four educational institutions from the Ashanti, Greater Accra and Central regions.

He commended the individuals and institutions for emerging winners of what MJA called the ‘Africa Quality Awards Scheme’ which is aimed at appreciating the contributions of hardworking Ghanaians.

Personality Awards

The two distinguished personalities received awards for their meritorious contribution to the development in their respective areas.

They are Mr Reuben Bedzrah, the Ahafo Ano South District Health Director and Mr Edward Kusi Ayarkwa, the Sekyere South District Chief Executive (DCE).

Receiving their awards, Mr Bedzrah urged Ghanaians to develop the practice of eating more fruits and vegetables to help reduce their intake of oily foods, since that would improve the life expectancy challenges facing the country.

The Sekyere South District Co-ordinating Director, Mr Andrews Nawil, who received the award for Mr Ayarkwa, expressed  Mr Ayarkwa’s appreciation to the MJA and reiterated the need to meet the socio-economic needs of his people.

Institutional Awards

Alpha Homeopathic Hospital, which is located at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, received an award for its use of natural applications for healing the sick.

Mr Moyom Shaddrack, a Personal Assistant to the Director of the facility, Dr Owireku Y. Junior, thanked MJA and advised Ghanaians to continue using natural methods of curing ailments.

While Mr Clement Agyei Sarfo, the Principal of Ideal College received an award on behalf of his school for academic excellence, the Head of the International Community School, Madam Phyllis Hildebrandt, received an award for her school for the school’s      adoption of international best standards of teaching and learning, resulting in their students performing excellently.

Mr Yaw Ofori Amanfo, the Director of the Kumasi Campus of the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) and Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, the Principal of Jackson College of Education, also received awards for their institutions and expressed gratitude to MJA for honouring the institutions.
