At a ceremony to hand over the facility in Accra yesterday, the Assistant Business Development Manager of MDS-Lancet Laboratories, Mr Alvin Katahena, said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

He said “MDS-Lancet Laboratories is not only in the healthcare business to make money but is doing its bit to give back to the society.”

Poor condition

Prior to the renovation, Mr Katahena said staff of MDS-Lancet Laboratories visited the facility at the Police Hospital where they took note of the poor conditions and the deteriorating equipment.

He, therefore, urged the hospital authorities to adopt a good maintenance culture and said his outfit had earmarked other support activities such as enhancing several laboratory facilities of some major health centres in the country.

Gratitude

The Medical Director of the Police Hospital, DCOP Dr Marian Tetteh Korboe, expressed her gratitude to the company for the gesture.

She said refurbishing the ward was a priority for the hospital but it had been put on hold due to financial constraints.

“You have relieved us of a burden of finding extra money to improve this facility, you have really brought us joy and we are much grateful,” Dr Korboe said and appealed to other corporate organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the hospital to enable it to deliver the best of services to its clients.
