McBrown escapes death

Nana Ama McBrownBubbly actress  Nana Ama McBrown escaped death early Wednesday morning on the N1 Highway at Abeka Lapaz in Accra, a stretch of road that has become notorious for the large number of fatal motor accidents that occur on it.

It was about 2am  and Nana Ama and her boyfriend Maxwell Mensah driving a black four-wheel-drive Range Rover with a temporary licence plate number DV8460 was heading from Osu towards Mallam.

 On approaching the Lapaz traffic lights which were then blinking amber, another vehicle, a taxi cab with licence plate number GR 9922- R approached from the left side and rammed into the Range Rover.

“That was all we remember”, Maxwell told Showbiz on the hospital premises.” When both of us gained consciousness, we were on admission at the Trauma and Emergency Unit of the 37 military hospital”.

At the time Maxwell was speaking, doctors were still treating Nana Ama and would not allow anyone to visit, not even family members.

Police Inspector Yaw Amoh at the Tesano police station told Showbiz, the driver of the Opel taxi cab which crashed into Nana Ama’s vehicle was identified as John Kofi Dogbevi.

Throwing more light on the accident, Inspector Yaw Amoh said because the two cars were on top speed the impact was so severe.

He said the driver of the Opel Vectra, John Kofi Dogbevi was rushed to an unknown hospital by some onlookers while Nana Ama McBrown and her boyfriend were taken to the 37 Military hospital.

According to him, the police are yet to trace which hospital John Kofi Dogbevi was taken to for further details.

Although the media were not allowed to see Nana Ama, her family said she was fine and was responding to treatment. Maxwell  who broke his right arm during the accident expressed his gratitude to God for saving their lives.

Nana Ama who started her movie career in 2001 is known for movies such as Asoreba, Madam Joan, Nsem Pii, Kumasi Yonko, Odo Ntira, Love Comes Back, Fools Paradise, Dea Ade Wo No, Girls Connection, Playboy, My Own Mother, Friday Night, Di Asempa(Osofo Maame), Asabea (The Blind Girl), Evil Heart, The Pastor's Wife, Pastors Club  and The End.
