Sir Kt. Paintsil, who takes over from Sir Knight Victor Derx Baffour told a large gathering of Marshallans from across the globe in his installation speech in Sekondi last Saturday that he would work hard to make the Noble Order to become more effective and relevant to contemporary times.

He also pledged to strengthen the administrative and management system of the Order, strengthen fraternal relations among its members, to improve its finances and to energise the Marshallan Relief and Development Services (MAREDES).

He was installed as the 30th Supreme Knight of the Knights of Marshall with the Supreme Director, Sir Kt. Bro. Vet. Dr. Cdr Edmund S. K. Kwaw as the Installation Officer; Sir Kt. Cdr. Bro. Lawrence Owusu-Akyaw Prempeh as the Installation Secretary and Sir Kt. Bro. James K. Adomako as Installation Guard.

Before the installation ceremony, Worthy Brother Ernest Amoako-Arhin was also elected as the Deputy Supreme Knight.

The Noble Order of Knights and Ladies of Marshall is a Catholic friendly society founded in 1926 with two primary objectives.

First, to bring Catholic men and women together for effective lay apostolate and Catholic action, and second, to provide a friendly social forum for Catholics who might otherwise be attracted to non-Catholic lodges.

Sir Kt. Paintsil is the Country Director, West Africa of American Airlines and served both the Catholic Church in Ghana and the Knights of Marshall in various capacities until he was installed last Saturday to lead one of the most influential Catholic societies in the world.

Outlining some of the details of the programmes to be pursued during his two-year tenure, Sir Knight Paintsil proposed a computerisation of the finances and database of the Order to strengthen the information management system of the Noble Order and make it more efficient and reliable.

He pledged to streamline the financial contributions and investments of the Order with the view to creating viable financial reserves.

He reminded members of the Order that they had a crucial role in promoting good governance towards establishing a more just, harmonious and peaceful society.

That, he said, was based on the fact that the Noble Order was made up of influential people in society.
