The suspect, together with an accomplice, Kweku Coleman, was said to have posed as an official of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to gain entry into the victim’s house.

The accomplice, whose name was not readily available, is currently at large.

They were said to have robbed the victim, who was at home with his family, at gunpoint. They took away a flat screen television set, two laptops, two mobile phones and cash of GH¢140.

Entry point

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Yohuno, told the Daily Graphic that the incident happened at 11:20 a.m. last Wednesday.

He said the suspects gained access to the victim’s house when they disguised themselves as ECG officials who were on an errand to check electricity meters.

After they were allowed into the house by the victim, Mr Yohuno said, they handed over a note which read “We are armed robbers, if you scream, you will die”.

He said the suspects pointed a pistol at the victim and marched him to where the other members of his family were and stole the items.

The escape

The suspects then escaped on an unregistered Sanili motorbike. But, according to Mr Yohuno, luck eluded the suspects when they were given a hot chase by some of the residents.

During the chase, the suspects’ motorbike fell in front of the Pokuase Police Station.

He said one of the suspects escaped, while the other, Coleman, was apprehended by the Pokuase Police.
