The Kronkohemaa of Mampong Ashanti, Nana Aboagyewa Kente, has commended Fan Milk Limited and The Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA) for their joint efforts in helping to intensify the country’s school health and agricultural programmes from which schools and communities within the Mampong Ashanti Traditional Area have benefitted.
She said the choice made by the two bodies to complement the efforts of the Government and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the search for sustainable and sound environment deserved encouragement.
Nana Kente made the remarks when she received litter bins and Fan Milk branded footballs from Fan Milk Limited to support the school health programme in the municipality. The programme was organised by GNASBA.
She advised the schoolchildren to help the assemblies by using the litter Bins in schools as well as the refuse containers placed in various communities to gather garbage rather than throwing the litter and garbage in gutters, especially during the rainy season.
The Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Augusta Akyaa Sarpong, expressed her appreciation to Fan Milk Limited for the guesture and appealled to the teachers to help enforce the use of the litter containers on the various school compounds.
She said the items would be distributed to schools in the Mampong Ashanti North and South, Benim, Kofiase, Mampong Ashanti Central A and B circuits.
Mr Baffour Akwasi Oppong, the National Chairman of GNASBA, presented the items on behalf of Fan Milk Limited. He said Fan Milk was proud to give back to communities in which its products were sold, and that since Mampong Ashanti was the next commercial town after Kumasi it had a reason to help the youth intensify cleaniliness in schools and at home.
