Majority of Education Ministry staff have tested positive for COVID-19 – Minister
The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said that most of his colleagues at the Ministry have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus disease.
According to him, a mass testing was conducted at the Ministry after he was confirmed positive for the virus.

On June 24, Dr Opoku Prempeh announced that he had been at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) awaiting results of a COVID-19 test.
According to a statement issued by his Ministry, the Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP) was feeling unwell for a couple of days and decided to go in for a second test after testing negative in a prior test on June 16.
The statement disclosed that on June 16, Dr Opoku Prempeh first underwent various tests including COVID-19, after he felt unwell for a couple of days.
Later on July 8, the Education Ministry announced that Dr Opoku-Prempeh had been discharged from the UGMC after a rapid antibody test for COVID-19 came out positive.
Recounting his experience while on admission at the UGMC, Dr Opoku Prempeh said in an interview on Accra-based radio station Peace FM that he tested positive for the disease four days after being admitted at the centre.

He said following that, a mass testing was conducted at the ministry and "I can say 45 persons have been infected assuming there were about 50 people at work."
According to him, he was not showing the regular symptoms such as sneeze and cough but acute diarrhoea.
"Those saying we don't care, we won't contract it, No! You might be strong but would infect someones' mother or your grandparent at home or an aunt", Dr Opoku Prempeh stressed.
According to him, his experience was so bad that he would not wish or pray someone gets infected. He therefore advised that all should continue to adhere to the safety protocols.
