Major Mahama video to be played in court March 17

A video recording which allegedly showed how Major Maxwell Adam Mahama was killed will be played at the Accra High Court on March 17, 2020 as evidence in the trial of the 14 people alleged to have killed the military officer.

The video was expected to be played yesterday but it was adjourned due to the unavailability of a projector in the Criminal Division (Court 3) of the Accra High Court.

The presiding judge, Justice Mariama Owusu, a Justice of the Supreme Court, sitting as a High Court judge, therefore adjourned the trial to March 17, 2020 for continuation.

On the said day, the prosecution is also expected to bring its case to a close. The prosecution, led by Mrs Evelyn Keelson , a Chief State Attorney, has called 14 witnesses to testify at the trial.

Major Mahama was killed at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region on May 29, 2017.

He was said to have been lynched during a morning walk that led him to Denkyira Obuasi.

A video recording of how he was supposedly lynched went viral on various social media platforms.

Fourteen people, including William Baah, a former Assembly Member of Denkyira Obuasi, are standing trial in connection with the death of the military officer.

Others are Bernard Asamoah, alias Daddy; Kofi Nyarko, aka Abortion Akwasi Baah, Kwame Tuffour, Joseph Appiah Kubi and Michael Anim.

The rest are Bismark Donkor, John Bosie, Akwasi Baah, Charles Kwaning, Emmanuel Badu, Bismark Abanga and Kwadwo Anima.

They have all pleaded not guilty to charges ranging from murder, abetment to murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
