The congress, which was the first of its kind to be held, was on the theme; “Reviving the Adventist Lay Person for his Second Coming”. The congress is to be held every two years purposely to educate the laity on their role in the church.

It was attended by departmental heads in the church.

In a sermon, the President of the Southern Ghana Union of the SDA Church, Pastor Dr Samuel Adama Larmie, urged Christians to live in a manner that was a blessing to society.

The congress is also intended to support pastors in their evangelism work and to train and encourage members of the church to focus on Christ.

The President of the South Ghana Conference of the SDA, Pastor Dr Chris Annan Nunoo, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, urged Christians to prepare adequately for the Second Coming of Christ by arming themselves with the word of God.

"God will not complete His work without human involvement. That is why the SDA Church established the congress  to allow its members to accomplish the substance of the Lord," he said.
