Light of Love, Emmanuel TV support two prisons
Light of Love, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), in partnership with Emmanuel TV, has provided two prisons in the country with logistical support to improve their work in prison inmate reformation.
The beneficiary institutions are the James Camp Prison and the Senior Correctional Centre (SCC).

The James Camp Prison received 12 television sets, some Christian literature, clothing, hygiene products and food items, while the SCC received two television sets. The donations were valued at GH¢20,000.
Access to Bible teachings
At the presentation ceremony in Accra last Friday, the Chairperson of Light of Love, Ms. Francisca Euphemia Kemetse, said the television sets were to provide an opportunity for the inmates to have access to Emmanuel TV programmes so they could learn God’s teachings and the marvelous things He was doing in the lives of people.
“I believe every prisoner has another chance at life and providing them with the right massage can help speed up their reformation and make them understand God better,” she said.
Ms. Kemetse said to ensure that the purpose for the donation was achieved, the two institutions decided to show the prisoners love by providing them with food items and other necessities to make their stay in prison less stressful.
She said the foundation and the church would visit both prisons regularly to lend support to the inmates and also speak to them about God.
“We will be here very often to check if the television sets are serving the purpose for which they were intended. They are not meant for entertainment, but to help share the word of God with the inmates and get them reformed,” she added.
Reformation
The Assistant Director of Prisons in charge of James Camp Prison, Mr. Raphael Tuekpe, commended the organisations for the gesture.
“Reforming the inmates and getting them reintegrated with society is the core mandate of the prison and this requires some motivation and godly messages which will encourage them to quit their old habit and turn over a new leaf.
“This is why I’m so grateful to Emmanuel TV and Light of Love for their kind gesture,” he said.
He gave an assurance that the TV sets were going to be fixed in all the eight dormitories in the yard as well as constantly monitor and ensure that they were making an impact.
The Second-in-Command at the Senior Correctional Centre (SCC), Chief Superintendent of Prison, Mrs. Victoria Adzewodah, also expressed her gratitude to the organisations, stating that the items had come at the right time.
“The television sets are not only going to give the children in our yard access to messages from the Bible; they would also have access to virtual education that would go to improve their studies. We are most grateful for the offer and we will make sure to maintain them so they can last long,” she said.
