LEKMA, people’s Dialogue cut sod for bus terminal

The Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) and a non-governmental organisation (NGO), the People’s Dialogue, have cut the sod for the construction of a bus terminal at the Teshie First Junction in Accra.

The cost of the project is valued at GH¢95,000 and is to be shared equally between the two bodies.

Construction work on the terminal began last Friday and is expected to be completed in six weeks’ time. The project is being undertaken by the Mega Works Construction Company Limited.

Commendation

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku-Krowor Constituency, Ms Benita Sena Okity-Duah, commended the two organisations for coming together to undertake the project that would be of immense benefit to the community.

According to her, while campaigning to become an MP in 2012, she promised to put up a bus terminal for commercial drivers in the area and was happy that a project such as that was being undertaken finally.

“The assembly, myself and the NGO, Peoples Dialogue, have been able to fulfil an essential need,“ she said.

”It is good to know that when the construction is finished, pedestrians and drivers will no longer have challenges whenever it rains heavily,” said Mr Daniel Nkansah, Secretary, First Junction Taxi Drivers Union.
