The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly has begun the distribution of free school uniforms to schoolchildren at selected schools within the municipality.

The distribution forms part of the government’s nationwide free school uniforms programme.

Presenting about 700 school uniforms to children at the La Wireless Cluster of schools at La in Accra on Friday, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LaDMA, Ms Rita Odoley Sowah, called on the children to study hard in order to pass their exams well.

Cultivate reading habit

She also advised them to cultivate the habit of reading so that they would be able to read and understand questions during examinations before answering them.

The MCE said in all about 3,000 uniforms would be distributed to schools whose pupils had either tattered school uniforms or were forced to wear house dresses to school because they had no uniforms.

Other schools to benefit from the uniform include the Labone Primary School, La Presby Primary, Manle Dada School, African Unity and Enobal School.

Ms Sowah urged teachers to encourage the children to enable them to give their best in the upcoming BECE examination next year.

Share their problems
She also advised them to endeavour to win the trust of the children so that they could easily go to them to share their problems with them.

She indicated that the children were the future leaders, and as such all efforts must be made to ensure that they grew up to be responsible citizens.

The headmaster of the school, Alhaji Gauna Ligbi, expressed his appreciation to the MCE for making sure the school was not left out when it came to anything concerning schoolchildren.

He advised the children to take good care of the uniforms so that they would be able to use it a for a long time.
