Kumasi traders back on pavements

Some traders in the central business area in Kumasi have turned almost all pavements in the commercial areas of the city into their selling points.

Such negative practices have also contributed to vehicular and human traffic in the city as the pedestrians do not have any other option than to walk on the roads meant for vehicles and other road users.

These practices of some of the traders in Kumasi do not  only undermine the beauty of the city but are also a contributing factor in the regular knockdown of pedestrians on the road.

Some few months ago, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) undertook a decongestion exercise to clear all such traders from the pavements in the central business area of the city but  it seems that valuable initiative has been abandoned; leaving the traders to continue their lawless trading on the pavements.

The Daily Graphic is, therefore, calling on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to ensure sanity and free movements of pedestrians in the city.
