Kojo Bonsu apologises to Asantehene
The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Kojo Bonsu, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the chiefs of the Kumasi Traditional Council for his actions that incurred their wrath.

The angry chiefs, at a crunch meeting held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi last Monday, unanimously accused Mr Bonsu of insubordination and disrespect towards them.

The brouhaha stemmed from the decision by the KMA boss to write a letter to question the authority of Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Amoamanhene, who was appointed by Otumfuo Osei Tutu to represent the chiefs on a committee that was to supervise the construction of the Kejetia project, as one of the many acts of insubordination towards the chiefs.
The Asanteman Council arrived at their decision to have Mr Bonsu sacked following his failure to appear before it after he was summoned to explain his “disrespectful” behaviour towards the council.
Apology letter
But in his apology letter to the Council, Mr Bonsu said he had taken notice of the concerns raised by the council over recent developments in the metropolis.
“I wish to render an unqualified apology to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Nananom for any actions and inaction, which may have incurred their displeasure,” the letter said.
He said since assuming office as Chief Executive, he had enjoyed tremendous support and cooperation from Nananom and had together developed a healthy working relationship as stakeholders in the collective pursuit of the development, peace and progress of the Kumasi metropolis.
“I shall, therefore, continue to cherish my relationship with Nananom and take all the necessary traditional steps to repair and protect same,” the letter concluded.
