Kennedy Agyapong: Police yet to question me over journo's murder

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has discounted media reports that he has been invited for questioning over the death of murdered investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

The outspoken MP said he has not been invited by the Police or any of Ghana's security agencies over comments he made about Hussein-Suale last year in a televised broadcast on NET2, a television channel he (Mr Agyapong) owns.

The journalist Hussein-Suale was an employee of Tiger Eye Private Investigations, a private security firm until he was gunned-down late Wednesday by two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike while driving home around Madina in Accra.

Speaking in an interview Thursday afternoon on Asempa FM, Mr Agyapong adviced the Police to make Tiger Eye PI founder, Anas Aremeyaw Anas the subject of their probe because of the speed with which he released the video of him (Agyapong) advising the public to attack Hussein-Suale in the aftermath of his employee's death.

"I am innocent, the truth will set me free," Mr Agyapong screamed when asked if he had anything to do with the murder.

He also took issue with the Police focus on social media posts as part of their investigations, describing it as nonsense.

"Nonsense, as soon as the Police says this, they don't know their job. You gotta investigate... I don't have a problem with him, he (Hussein Suale) never got the chance to set me up," he stressed.

He said the video posted by Anas was an attempt to divert Police attention, making the investigative journalist a prime suspect in Hussein-Suale's death.

Mr Agyapong also disclosed that he was headed out of the country on business and will be back next Thursday.
