Keeping a safe environment is everyone’s responsibility

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ayensuano, Mr. Mike Ofori-Darko, has noted that  the responsibility of keeping a safe environment in the country is the responsibility of all citizens and corporate organizations.

In order to protect and secure the environment and its natural resource for livelihood, he said, the challenges of the environment should not be left as a burden for the Government and it agencies.

Mr, Ofori-Darko was speaking at the Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA) sanitation education campaign for the Ayensuano District Assembly at Coaltar in the Ayensuano District of Eastern Region.

 

The DCE, together with officials of the GES in the district and GNASBA led a three-hour general clean-up exercise involving all first and second cycle schools at Kraboa and Coaltar.

GNASBA presented 60 litter bins from donated by Fan Milk Limited to selected schools in the district.

Mr. Ofori-Darko said millions of people depended on the natural environment comprising of the earth and the sea for livelihood and should therefore be mindful of the rate of degradation and depletion.

He commended Fan Milk Limited and GNASBA for their good work over the past 22 years and urged other institutions to join the crusade to ensure a clean environment.

Presenting the bins on behalf of Fan Milk Limited Mr. Stephen Karikari the Eastern Regional Sales Manager of Fan Milk Limited commended the teachers and schoolchildren for participating in the general clean-up exercise.

He said one of the important objectives of Fan Milk Limited was to encourage schools and communities to keep safe and clean environments for good health.

The National Chairman of GNASBA Baffour Akwasi Oppong, said Fan Milk in collaboration with GNASBA would intensify their collaboration to boost the national sanitation effort.
