Mr Richmond Asare (right), Quality Control Manager explaining the production process to the WAG members during the visit. The Chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Woodworkers Association of Ghana (WAG), Mr Reynolds Debrah, has urged members of the association to use good quality foam products for their work to win the confidence of their clients.

He said it was only when woodworkers kept to top standards that furniture from Ghana would be acceptable in the country and on the international market.

Mr Debrah was speaking during a visit by the executive committee of the association to the Ashanti Foam Factory Limited (Ashfoam).

Ashfoam is a major supplier of foam products to members of the association and the visit was to enable members of the committee to acquaint themselves with the operations of the company.

During the visit, Ashfoam donated GH¢50,000 to the association to enable its members throughout the country to go through various capacity building programmes. The activities lined up include training programmes in skills upgrade, sales and marketing orientation, communications and basic accounting courses to open the members to current business trends in order to build on their profession.

Ashfoam also donated two computers and a multi-purpose printer and promised to resource the national head office of the association with monthly remittance to support the administrative activities of the association.

The national chairman expressed his appreciation to the company and urged members to patronise products of the company as a reciprocal gesture.

The 30 executive members, drawn from all 10 regions of Ghana, were conducted round the factory by the Quality Control Manager, Mr Richmond Asare; Human Resource Manager, Mr Kwamina Otoo and the Finance & Administration Manager, Mr William G. Forson.

In a brief remark, Mr Forson said Ashfoam operated strictly in accordance with high industrial standards to satisfy local and international markets.

“For us at Ashfoam, we have made it our way of life not to compromise on quality. When our customers are satisfied, we get the motivation to be in business,” he said.

He said the current achievement by Ashfoam as the CIMG Manufacturing Company of the year 2012 was the result of the loyalty of customers over the years and promised that the company would continue to support groups like the WAG through their activities and programmes.

Ashfoam adopted the association two years ago and has been instrumental in bringing all the members from each region together through the organisation of seminars and training workshops for the members.
