The Obuasi correspondent of the Ghanaian Chronicle, Albert Nana Asante, is said to have committed suicide in the early hours of Monday.
Nana Asante was also the News Editor of Time FM, a private radio station at Obuasi.
It is unclear what might have prompted him to take his life, as he was due to get married on May 18, this year.
His remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Obuasi Government Hospital pending an autopsy.
The Obuasi District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Mathew Asante, who confirmed this to the Daily Graphic, said Nana Asante was preparing for his wedding scheduled for May 18, 2014 but was found dead in an uncompleted church building at Akaporiso, a suburb of Obuasi, around 6.30 a.m. Monday.
He said Nana Asante, aged 31, was suspected to have drunk a poisonous concoction after leaving a one-and-a-half page note behind.
Mr Asante said the Obuasi Police were investigating the circumstances leading to the suicide.
