He noted that Ghana had a lot of potential for its social and economic development, and that, the most important key to achieving the desired results was the “self-help” spirit of Ghanaians.

Mr Sagara, who described Ghana as his second home, was speaking at a ceremony in  Accra. He has completed a three-and-half-year assignment in Ghana and would return to Japan.

He pledged to be a strong supporter of Ghana’s development in his future endeavours.

During his tenure in JICA Ghana office, technical cooperation, grant aid projects such as the “Sustainable Development for rain-fed lowland rice projects” and  the food security project for underprivileged farmers” were carried out to enhance Ghana’s agriculture sector.

Under the infrastructure sector, he  was able to support the take-off and feasibility study on  the Eastern Corridor Development Project” and the project on the electric engineering training for Africa”,  and the study on the  comprehensive urban development plan for Greater Kumasi.

He was full of praise for the people of Ghana, describing them as full of hospitality, adding that, although he would go back to Japan, his spirit would remain in Ghana.
