'It is not allowed': GBA President warns new lawyers against filming court entrances

The President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Efua Ghartey, has cautioned newly enrolled lawyers against filming their first appearance in court or engaging videographers to record their entry into the courtroom, warning that such conduct is not permitted and could lead to disciplinary action.

"We've seen some people take videos of their fresh legal steps into court. Please, it is not allowed," she said. "So please don't find a videographer to follow you as you enter the courtroom. It is not allowed."

She noted that while seniors in the profession are enjoying the enthusiasm of the new lawyers, some have crossed the line.

"As seniors, we are enjoying what is going on, but some people have crossed the line, and we don't want to start calling for disciplinary matters," she stated.

The GBA President's warning comes as a firm reminder of the professional standards and decorum expected within the legal profession, particularly regarding the sanctity of court proceedings and the prohibition of unauthorised recording in courtrooms.
